Agility Robotics has unveiled its next humanoid robot, Digit 5, designed to maximize productivity by achieving over 20 hours of work within a 24-hour period. This advancement is made possible through a partnership with Nyobolt, which provides battery technology that allows for 90 minutes of operation after just a nine-minute charge.
The significance of this development lies in its potential to enhance operational efficiency for manufacturing, warehouse, and distribution sectors. The new battery system boasts a 10:1 run-to-charge ratio, a substantial improvement over Digit 4's 2:1 ratio, enabling the robot to work for 10 minutes for every minute spent charging. This capability is expected to support more than two full shifts of work daily.
Looking ahead, early access to Digit 5 equipped with Nyobolt's technology is anticipated in the first half of 2027. This innovation addresses the critical challenge of maintaining long operational hours for humanoid robots, thereby increasing their value and economic viability for customers in industrial settings.
