Agility Robotics announced on October 15, 2026, that it has selected Nyobolt, a UK-based company, as its battery technology partner for the next-generation humanoid robot, Digit 5. This partnership aims to enhance the operational efficiency of Digit 5, which is designed for safe collaboration near humans, by incorporating a new battery system that allows for a 10:1 operational-to-charging ratio, significantly improving upon the previous Digit 4's 2:1 ratio.
The rapid charging capability enables Digit 5 to operate for over 20 hours a day, exceeding two shifts, which is crucial for maximizing the value customers can derive from a single robot. Daniel Diez, Chief Business Officer at Agility, emphasized that the operational rate of Digit is central to the business case, and the collaboration with Nyobolt is expected to greatly improve the economic viability of humanoid operations.
Nyobolt's high-output battery technology is designed for harsh industrial environments, featuring rapid charging and excellent cycle life. The initial deployment of Digit 5 equipped with Nyobolt's battery technology is anticipated to begin in early 2027, followed by a broader rollout over the subsequent 6 to 9 months. Agility is also preparing for a public listing through a merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI, expected to complete in Q4 2026.
