SimScale's new Engineering AI Agent brings its full CFD, Thermal, Emag and FEA simulation toolset directly to designers in the moment they need it, intelligently reasoning through setup and executing from raw CAD geometry at the time a design choice is being made. MUNICH, September 15, 2026 — SimScale, the AI-native cloud platform for engineering simulation, today launched the SimScale Engineering AI Agent accessible within PTC’s Onshape® cloud-native CAD and PDM platform, with the news announced at IMTS 2026 in Chicago. From a single prompt, the agent reasons through the full simulation workflow — proposing a setup, preparing CAD geometry that hasn't yet been cleaned up for simulation, running the physics, and interpreting the results in plain engineering language — without the engineer leaving the Onshape environment or handing the job to a specialist.
The agent is delivered as an integrated app through the Onshape App Store; Onshape users need to enable it before it appears in their workspace, the same way any other Onshape app is accessed.
Running a simulation has often meant leaving the design environment altogether: exporting a model, opening a separate tool, and often waiting on a specialist to set up the physics correctly. SimScale built the Engineering AI Agent to close that gap. Instead of asking an engineer to become a simulation expert, or to hand a model off to one, the agent takes on the setup itself, proposing what physics applies, meshing the geometry, and choosing boundary conditions before it runs anything
The Engineering AI Agent brings that same capability directly into Onshape. It acts as a reasoning agent on top of SimScale's full physics platform, the same CFD, Thermal, Emag and FEA capability used for validation-grade simulation elsewhere on the platform, and takes on the parts of the workflow that used to require a specialist. From one prompt, the agent can take a CAD model, including geometry that isn't yet simulation-ready, propose an appropriate setup, mesh and run the physics, and report the results back in the same Onshape environment where the model lives. The engineer can step in at any point to adjust a setup, override a boundary condition, or review assumptions before handing control back to the agent.

The agent runs on the SimScale Agent API, which keeps every run auditable, keeps data under the customer's existing governance, and provisions compute automatically — so the reasoning happens without anyone losing visibility into what the agent did or where their data went.
That reasoning layer sits on top of a platform already used by more than 900,000 engineers for CFD, FEA, thermal, and electromagnetic simulation — including companies like Withings, which cut its design-to-prototype cycle 7x by moving simulation earlier into the design process. The Onshape agent is built to bring that same early-and-broad shift to any engineer working in CAD, not only the ones who already have a simulation team behind them.
