Automated Industrial Robotics Inc. (AIR) is an industrial automation company headquartered in Rochester Hills, Michigan. AIR was launched in January 2024 by Ares Management Corporation as a platform built to combine established industrial automation businesses under one company. At its start, AIR acquired Totally Automated Systems (TA Systems), a Detroit-area firm that designs and manufactures assembly machines for automotive and appliance manufacturers, and Modular Automation, a Shannon, Ireland-based automation supplier to the medical-technology industry.
AIR has since acquired Robotics & Drives, an Ireland-based robotic automation firm; Owens Design; and KAON Automation, an Ireland-based automation company acquired in early 2026. The combined company provides engineering, systems integration, machine design and robotic automation across the life-sciences, automotive, cosmetics and food-and-beverage sectors.
AIR operates with about 500 employees across facilities in the United States, Ireland and the United Kingdom, including a UK site in Wakefield, totaling roughly 340,000 square feet of manufacturing and engineering space.
