Shenzhen Noin Smart Launches $2 Billion Knowin-X1 Foldable Humanoid Robot

At the 2026 WAIC, Shenzhen Noin Smart unveiled its first consumer-grade foldable humanoid robot, the Knowin-X1, which stands at just 40 centimeters when folded. This innovative design allows the robot to fit into tight spaces, addressing the challenge of storing a humanoid robot in a typical household environment.

The Knowin-X1 features a dual-arm structure with 23 joints and can switch between upright and kneeling positions. It is designed to perform household tasks such as laundry and organizing, while its compact size ensures it does not dominate living space. The robot's development team, led by former Huawei member Li Yinchuan, emphasizes practicality over aesthetics, aiming for a low presence in the home.

As the market for household robots grows, the Knowin-X1's ability to operate in dynamic environments sets it apart from competitors that struggle with variable conditions. The robot's performance in real-world scenarios will be crucial for its acceptance and success in the consumer market. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.

Editor's Note

The introduction of the Knowin-X1 by Shenzhen Noin Smart highlights a significant shift in the robotics industry towards practical, space-efficient designs for home use. As consumer demand for multifunctional robots increases, companies must focus on developing solutions that can adapt to the complexities of everyday environments. This trend may redefine household robotics and influence future investments in the sector.
