"Bring robots into every home"
Shenzhen home-robot startup founded 2025 building the foldable dual-arm KNOWIN-X1 and GLOW embodied model; raised a CNY 500M angel round in 2026.
Knowin is a consumer home robotics company in Shenzhen, China, founded in August 2025. Its legal entity is Shenzhen Knowin Intelligence Co., Ltd., with offices in the Shenzhen Bay Technology Eco Park in Nanshan District. The company develops both the robot hardware and the embodied AI models that run it, and positions itself exclusively on the household market: home management, companionship, entertainment and everyday chores.
The first product is KNOWIN-X1, a wheeled dual-arm robot designed for indoor homes. Its two arms each have 7 degrees of freedom, the dual-arm payload is 6 kg and the whole body has 23 degrees of freedom. The arms and body fold into a storage mode no taller than 40 cm, a design choice aimed at apartments where a full-size robot would be in the way. The published figures list a weight of 50 kg and a standby time of 10 hours. Perception combines vision, depth sensing and LiDAR, with layered obstacle avoidance for operation around people. Press reports in July 2026 said an official release is expected in 2027 at a price in the tens of thousands of yuan; the robot was still in engineering validation at the time of collection.
The software layer is GLOW (Generative Learning of World), a generative embodied learning framework built on real and synthetic physical interaction data, world rollouts and a unified multimodal autoregressive model that links scene understanding, physical reasoning, task planning and action generation. In September 2026 Knowin published a GLOW technical report describing one-shot teaching, in which the robot learns a household task from a single human demonstration; the company reported 62.2 percent on RoboDojo and 86.7 percent on LIBERO-Pro under its own test settings. An earlier model, KnowinBrain, ranked first overall on the 2D-Embodied QA benchmarks of the 2025 Embodied Arena evaluation, and the team placed first in both the Source-Limited and Open-Source tracks of the EgoCross Challenge at the CVPR 2026 EgoVis Workshop.
Founder Li Yinchuan previously spent five years at Huawei Noah's Ark Lab, where he led work on generative large models; co-founder Wang Yunjie was a product lead on flagship DJI products. The company reported more than 150 R&D staff as of June 2026, and press coverage in July 2026 put total headcount above 190.
In August 2026 Knowin closed a CNY 500 million angel-plus round in a single tranche, led by Matrix Partners China with Redpoint China Ventures, SenseTime Guoxiang Capital, Walden International and L2F Lighthouse Founders' Fund participating; Lighthouse Capital acted as financial adviser. The company said the money would fund GLOW research, team expansion and engineering validation and mass-production preparation for KNOWIN-X1.
