"Building tomorrow's intelligence and automation"
Santa Clara maker, founded 2024, of Vega, a foldable wheeled bimanual humanoid on Jetson Thor listed from USD 83,000, plus grippers and a teleop exoskeleton.
Dexmate Inc. is a Santa Clara, California company that builds Vega, a wheeled general-purpose humanoid robot, along with a physical-AI development platform for research and real-world automation. It was founded in 2024 by AI robotics researchers. Tao Chen is co-founder and CEO. The company says its team comes from MIT, CMU, UCSD, NVIDIA, Toyota Research Institute, Ohio State University, the University of Michigan and INSEAD. Dexmate Inc. is a Delaware stock corporation, registered in California in February 2024.
Vega is a bimanual mobile manipulator on an omnidirectional wheeled base, with a foldable torso and arms. Dexmate lists more than 36 degrees of freedom, including a 3-DoF head, 3-DoF torso and bimanual arms described as 13 DoF. The vertical workspace runs from floor level to 7 ft 2 in (2.2 m), and each arm carries 10 lb at any pose. Runtime is 10+ hours, and the company says Vega can exceed 30 hours per charge when moving both arms without payload. Compute is NVIDIA Jetson AGX Thor. Sensors include RGB-D and RGB cameras, lidar, IMUs and ultrasonic sensors. The robot comes teleoperation-ready, with a pip-installable Python API and URDF and USD models for simulators. On the company store, Vega lists at USD 83,000 without end effectors or USD 98,000 with 6-DoF dexterous hands with touch sensors, with a three-week lead time.
Other products on the store: Vega U, the dual-arm upper body with the same kinematics as Vega for tabletop, mobile-base or custom mounting (USD 45,000, or USD 60,000 with dexterous hands); DexGripper S, a two-finger gripper (USD 3,000, or USD 3,800 with a ZED X One camera); DexGripper D, a four-pad gripper for heavy or long objects (USD 4,000, or USD 4,800 with camera); and a wearable teleoperation exoskeleton with 7-DoF dual arms built from Dynamixel-driven joints and 3D-printed parts. The exoskeleton uses Nintendo Joy-Con controllers for whole-body commands and runs with Omniteleop software (USD 1,800). Dexmate also runs a research grant program and publishes research papers.
Dexmate's investors include RoboStrategy, which says it led the Series Seed and Seed Plus rounds at post-money valuations of USD 123 million and USD 216 million, and which reports that Dexmate has shipped hundreds of robots to customers including NVIDIA, Amazon, Google and universities. On August 25, 2026, NEC announced an investment in Dexmate by the NEC Orchestrating Future Fund. Total funding is about USD 46 million: a USD 5 million seed round in July 2024, a second seed round in February 2026 and an early-stage VC round in August 2026. Other investors include Epsilon Ventures, Jinqiu Capital, LG Technology Ventures and Mana Ventures.
Dexmate's address is 4633 Old Ironsides Dr, Ste 310, Santa Clara, CA 95054. Dexmate exhibited at MODEX 2026 (booth C10792) and at IROS 2026 in Pittsburgh (booth 200, September 28-30, 2026), where it showed Vega demonstrations and a new brand identity.
