Tokio Marine HCC International Launches UK’s First Domestic Humanoid Robot Insurance Policy
- Published
Tokio Marine HCC International (TMHCCI) has partnered with Adrian Flux to introduce what is claimed to be the UK’s first household insurance policy for domestic humanoid robots. This innovative coverage is available through Adrian Flux’s home insurance and is underwritten by TMHCCI, aiming to cater to the emerging market for home robotics.
The introduction of this insurance policy is significant as it addresses the growing demand for domestic robots, particularly in the UK, where such technology is expected to be commonplace by 2027. With early models of humanoid robots already available for pre-order in the United States at $20,000, the policy aims to provide clarity on liability and coverage as these robots become part of everyday life.
TMHCCI’s new policy not only covers damage to the robot but also includes protection against damage it may cause to the home or belongings, as well as personal liability for injuries or property damage. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication regarding additional updates to the policy as technology evolves.
