Seoul's Jongno district came alive on Saturday with the annual Lotus Lantern Festival, known as Yeondeunghoe, which honors the Buddhist tradition of joy and resilience in anticipation of Buddha's Birthday. This year's event, themed "Peace in the mind, Harmony in the world," showcased a vibrant lantern parade alongside traditional Buddhist rituals and cultural programs. In a blend of tradition and innovation, the festival also featured robot monks and self-driving robots, highlighting the evolving nature of this centuries-old celebration. Ven. Jinwoo, president of the Jogye Order of Korean Buddhism, emphasized the festival's significance in fostering peace and harmony within the community.
