He shared insights from the rescue of two U.S. Army Apache crew members shot down by an Iranian drone near Oman, marking the first use of an uncrewed surface vessel (USV) in a personnel recovery operation.
Caine emphasized that the rapid evolution of AI is compressing decision-making timelines in military operations, with the advantage going to those who can quickly gather and analyze information. The successful recovery mission on June 8 involved a coordinated effort by U.S. CENTCOM and the deployment of a U.S. Navy Corsair USV, showcasing the integration of unmanned systems and AI in complex environments.
