Baykar's KIZILELMA unmanned fighter aircraft has successfully completed its first live-fire tests using munitions from its internal weapons bay. This achievement is crucial for enhancing the aircraft's precision strike capabilities while maintaining a low radar signature, a characteristic of stealth technology.
The live-fire tests, conducted at Baykar’s Flight Training and Test Center in Çorlu, involved the successful release of ROKETSAN’s TEBER-82 guided bomb and ASELSAN’s TOLUN precision-guided munition, both achieving direct hits on ground targets. The internal weapons bay configuration allows the KIZILELMA to reduce its radar cross-section and aerodynamic drag, improving performance in contested airspace.
Looking ahead, Baykar aims to expand the KIZILELMA's compatibility with indigenous Turkish weapons as part of its ongoing flight-test campaign. The successful integration of internally carried munitions marks a significant step in the aircraft's development, positioning it as a capable unmanned fighter for precision strikes and air-to-air engagements in complex environments. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
Editor's Note
The successful live-fire tests of the KIZILELMA highlight a significant advancement in unmanned combat aircraft technology. As the demand for stealth and precision in military operations increases, the ability to carry weapons internally without compromising performance is becoming essential. This development may influence procurement strategies for defense organizations looking to enhance their aerial capabilities.
