Baykar, marketed internationally as Baykar Technologies, is a Turkish unmanned aerial vehicle manufacturer headquartered in Istanbul. It was founded in 1984 by Ozdemir Bayraktar as a machining and manufacturing company before moving into UAV development, and remains privately held, with Haluk Bayraktar and Selcuk Bayraktar in senior leadership roles.
The product line includes the Bayraktar Mini UAV, the Bayraktar TB1 and TB2 tactical unmanned aircraft, the twin-engine Bayraktar Akinci high-altitude long-endurance combat drone, the jet-powered Bayraktar Kizilelma unmanned fighter aircraft under development, and the short-runway Bayraktar TB3. Baykar also produces ground control stations, command-and-control software, avionics and simulator systems to support its aircraft, with flight testing carried out at company facilities in Corlu and Merzifon, Turkey.
Baykar reports more than 8,000 employees and states that exports account for over 90 percent of turnover. The Bayraktar TB2 has been documented in operational use by Azerbaijan and Ukraine, and the company has expanded customer relationships into European markets including Italy and France. Reported 2023 revenue was approximately 2 billion US dollars.
