Vertical Aerospace, based in the UK, has selected a 30G energy-absorbing seating system and Northrop Grumman's navigation technology for its Valo electric flying taxi. Announced on October 16, these long-term supplier agreements will see South Korea's ANH Structure develop the aircraft's seats, while Northrop Grumman LITEF will provide the LCR-110 inertial reference system.
The integration of a 30G seating system is significant as it aims to enhance passenger safety by absorbing high impact forces during a crash. The navigation system will ensure critical flight information is available, including the aircraft's orientation and position. Although these agreements outline supplier responsibilities, the systems have yet to be certified for the Valo aircraft.
Looking ahead, the development and testing of the seating and navigation systems will be crucial for Vertical Aerospace as it moves toward aircraft certification and production. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
