Vertical Aerospace is a Bristol, UK-based electric aviation company developing the Valo eVTOL (electric vertical take-off and landing) aircraft. The company was founded out of the frustration of urban traffic congestion and aims to provide zero-operating-emission urban air mobility for everyday travel. It maintains offices in Bristol (HQ and Energy Centre), London, and a flight test facility at Cotswold Airport (Kemble).
The flagship product is the Valo aircraft, designed to carry up to four passengers and one pilot. Key performance targets include a cruise speed of 150 mph, a range of up to 100 miles, and zero CO2 operating emissions per mile. Valo features eight tilt-shift carbon fibre composite propellers that control both elevation and direction, paired with a Low Noise Signature (LNS) technology system to minimise noise in hover and cruise. The aircraft uses Honeywell's all-digital avionics and flight control system, compliant with UK CAA and EASA SC-VTOL enhanced category certification standards — equivalent to those required of commercial passenger airliners.
The Valo airframe is built with carbon composite materials supplied through partnerships with Syensqo, Leonardo, and Aciturri. Hyundai WIA serves as landing gear partner (announced May 2026). Molicel supplies the cylindrical battery cells used in Vertical's proprietary battery modules developed at the company's Vertical Energy Centre (VEC) in Bristol. In June 2026, the final full-scale prototype (AC3) completed its first piloted flight.

Key leadership includes Stuart Simpson (CEO, former CFO of Avast plc), Michael Cervenka (Chief Commercial and Strategy Officer, formerly Rolls-Royce), David King (Chief Engineer, former Chief Engineer on Leonardo AW609 and Bell Aircraft), and Simon Davies (Chief Test Pilot, Cat 1 test pilot with 25+ years and 3,000 hours across 70+ aircraft types).
