Northrop Grumman Corporation is a US aerospace and defence company headquartered at 2980 Fairview Park Drive, Falls Church, Virginia. Northrop Grumman is one of the main US producers of large uncrewed aircraft. The MQ-4C Triton is a high-altitude, long-endurance unmanned aircraft for maritime intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance; the company specifies operation above 50,000 ft, endurance of more than 24 hours and a range of 7,400 nautical miles, and states that Triton provides four times the coverage of other autonomous platforms. NATO, which already operates the RQ-4D Phoenix variant of the Global Hawk family, has signalled its intent to add Triton to its fleet.
The MQ-8C Fire Scout is an autonomous unmanned helicopter based on the commercial Bell 407 airframe and operated by the US Navy. It can take off and land autonomously on any aviation-capable ship as well as from prepared and unprepared landing zones, and has been deployed operationally, including to the Indo-Pacific. Compared with the earlier MQ-8B, the company states that the MQ-8C more than doubles range and endurance and more than triples payload capacity. The MQ-8B logged more than 16,600 flight hours over 6,200 sorties, deploying on frigates and Littoral Combat Ships and in Afghanistan.
Beyond aircraft, Northrop Grumman's Space Systems segment builds spacecraft, launch vehicles and in-space systems, while Mission Systems supplies sensors, radars and autonomy-related command and control.
