Eline Van der Velden Claims AI Actor Tilly Norwood is Creating Jobs in Hollywood

Eline Van der Velden, the creator of the AI-generated actor Tilly Norwood, asserts that Norwood is a job creator rather than a job destroyer. Introduced in July 2025, Norwood is set to make her debut in the film 'Misaligned,' produced by Van der Velden's company, Particle6. Since adopting AI, Van der Velden has expanded her team sixfold, employing around 40 workers.

Van der Velden emphasizes that the integration of AI has allowed her studio to grow by hiring actors, creative producers, and writers, countering fears that AI will eliminate jobs in the industry. She acknowledges the potential threats AI poses to creative professions, including her own, and has made a conscious effort to adapt her business model to leverage AI technology effectively.

Looking ahead, Van der Velden has declined offers for Norwood to appear in traditional films, stating that such roles should remain for human actors. The film 'Misaligned' is currently in production and features Norwood alongside other AI-generated characters, highlighting the potential of AI in storytelling while maintaining a clear distinction between human and AI roles.

Editor's Note

The emergence of AI-generated actors like Tilly Norwood raises critical discussions about the future of creative jobs in Hollywood. As companies explore AI's potential, the balance between innovation and job preservation becomes increasingly important. Stakeholders must navigate the implications of AI technology on employment and creative expression in the entertainment industry.
