Gambit (Gambit AI) is a U.S. defense and dual-use software company founded in 2023 by former SpaceX engineer Josh Giegel, headquartered in the Los Angeles area (North Hollywood, California). Gambit develops a software-first, platform-agnostic adaptive-intelligence stack that lets teams build, deploy and evolve autonomous behaviors across heterogeneous robotic systems, coordinating drones, ground robots and other uncrewed platforms as a unified whole regardless of hardware brand or builder. Its Physical AI Stack spans a Behavior Builder for creating and training behaviors, adaptive intelligence that runs in real time at the edge, and an intuitive interface for monitoring and controlling missions. Gambit frames autonomy as a spectrum from automated to autonomous to collaborative to adaptive, positioning its technology at the adaptive tier where systems learn, collaborate and adapt as a single coordinated brain.
The company has exited stealth with partnerships including L3Harris and RTX, and has secured contracts and agreements with U.S. defense customers, including two multi-million-dollar U.S. Air Force contracts and an OTA agreement with the U.S. Army Ground Vehicle Systems Center (GVSC) for C-UAS simulation and coordinated autonomy. Gambit has announced integrations and partnerships with ModalAI (VOXL 2 autopilot), Psionic, VICTUS, Reach Power and others, and is backed by investors including Eclipse, Next Frontier Capital, Mana Ventures, GenLab, Ethos, Riphean Investments and Marlinspike. Its advisory board includes former National Security Advisor H.R. McMaster.
