Crusoe, a Colorado-based company, has partnered with Aalo Atomics to develop the first nuclear-powered AI factory data center. This initiative aims to validate the effectiveness of nuclear power for AI workloads, with plans to power a Crusoe Spark modular data center at Idaho National Laboratory in 2027.
The collaboration is significant as it addresses the growing demand for reliable, clean, and scalable energy sources for AI infrastructure. Cully Cavness, co-founder of Crusoe, emphasized the importance of sustainable energy solutions, while Aalo Atomics aims to position itself as a leading power provider for modern data centers with its modular nuclear reactors.
Looking ahead, Aalo and Crusoe plan to deploy Aalo Pods and 50 MWe XMR power plants at Crusoe data centers by the end of 2029.
