Aalo Atomics is a nuclear energy technology company headquartered in a 40,000-square-foot factory at 5900 E Ben White Blvd in Austin, Texas. Founded in 2023 by CEO Matt Loszak, a Y Combinator alumnus with a background in nuclear engineering and physics, and CTO Yasir Arafat, a veteran of Idaho National Laboratory's MARVEL microreactor project and a founder of Westinghouse's eVinci program, the company set out to mass-manufacture small nuclear reactors using automotive-style factory production rather than traditional one-off construction.

Aalo's core product is the Aalo-1, a 30 MWt / 10 MWe sodium-cooled, thermal-spectrum reactor that uses UO2 ceramic fuel and is designed to be transportable by truck for rapid on-site installation. The company also offers the Aalo Pod, a 50 MWe configuration combining five Aalo-1 reactors with three turbines that Aalo says can be installed in under a year, and is building the Aalo-X, a full-scale prototype and critical test reactor under a Documented Safety Analysis approved by the U.S. Department of Energy's Idaho site. Aalo's stated goal is to deliver reliable, factory-built nuclear power at roughly 3 cents per kilowatt-hour, targeting customers ranging from AI data centers to industrial sites and municipal grids.

The company has raised more than $300 million in venture funding and became the first U.S. nuclear reactor company to secure a commercial delivery contract for enriched uranium, part of its path toward a 2026 startup of its first test reactor. Its Austin factory achieved NQA-1 quality certification, the nuclear industry's standard for safety-critical component manufacturing, in roughly six months. Aalo has grown from a two-person founding team to more than 200 employees within about three years.

Within the AI infrastructure space, Aalo has been named as a modular reactor supplier intended to power AI data center operator Crusoe's facilities, with deployment targeted by 2029. The company positions itself around the idea of a "Second Atomic Age" in which distributed, mass-produced microreactors supply firm, carbon-free power for compute-intensive industries and beyond.
