On August 22, the second World Humanoid Robot Games commenced at the Ice Ribbon in Beijing, featuring 666 teams and 2056 robots from 16 countries. This year's event saw a 138% increase in team participation and a fourfold rise in robot entries compared to the inaugural event.
The Tian Gong Ultra robot achieved a remarkable time of 9.39 seconds in the 100m preliminary round, breaking the previous event record and surpassing Usain Bolt's human world record of 9.58 seconds. Last year's best time was 21.5 seconds. Additionally, the Honor Robot 'Lightning' recorded a test time of 9.32 seconds prior to the competition.
The event has expanded from 26 to 51 competitions, including new high-intensity events like long jump and weightlifting. The games will run until August 26, with 12 gold medals to be awarded on the 23rd. The Ice Ribbon will be transformed into a permanent training base post-event.
