Company Overview

Honor Device Co., Ltd. is a Shenzhen-based consumer-electronics company best known for smartphones, laptops and wearables. Originally Huawei's sub-brand, it was sold by Huawei to a consortium of Chinese buyers in 2020 and now operates independently; it shipped about 71 million devices in 2025. At MWC 2025 Honor announced its Alpha Plan, a pledge of USD 10 billion over five years for an open AI device ecosystem, and robotics is one strand of that strategy.

In April 2025 Honor set up a new-industry incubation department whose units include an Embodied Intelligence Laboratory and a Bionic Ontology Research Laboratory, and it first announced its entry into robotics at the Honor 400 series launch in May 2025. At MWC 2026 it showed a compact humanoid robot alongside the Robot Phone, a handset with a motorized camera arm and gimbal.

Its flagship humanoid, Lightning, is a 169 cm biped with an effective leg length of 0.95 m and a raised hip rotation center for longer strides. Integrated leg joint modules deliver up to 400 Nm peak torque, the four lower-limb drive motors have independent liquid-cooling circuits (pump flow above 4 L/min), and the robot reaches about 6 m/s in a 100 m sprint. It is built in autonomous-navigation and remote-operated versions. At the 2026 Beijing Yizhuang Humanoid Robot Half Marathon (21.0975 km, April 2026), the autonomous Lightning won in a net time of 50:26, faster than the human world record of 56:42; autonomous Lightning units took the top three places, and a remote-operated unit finished in 48:19 but was not ranked champion under the weighted scoring. A second humanoid, Yuanqizai, is 136.9 cm tall, won the event's best-gait award and is intended to work as a shopping guide in Honor retail stores; both robots were shown at the 2026 Greater Bay Area Science and Technology Festival in Shenzhen. Honor has also outlined a quadruped robot dog (Anzai) and a dexterous hand (Luban). Media reports say Honor plans small-batch production of Lightning in late 2026 and volume production in 2027.
