AGCO has entered into a commercial agreement with Agility Robotics to deploy the Digit humanoid robot at its manufacturing facility in Hesston, Kansas. The pilot program is set to commence in 2027 and aims to enhance AGCO's manufacturing capabilities by integrating humanoid robotics and AI into its operations.
This collaboration is significant as it reflects AGCO's commitment to creating flexible and intelligent factories, which are essential for modern manufacturing. According to Thomas Enghof, AGCO's director of manufacturing technology, the partnership will enable automation in complex workflows, allowing human workers to focus on more skilled tasks while robots handle repetitive and hazardous duties.
Looking ahead, AGCO's deployment of Digit will initially focus on key assembly tasks, such as sorting and stacking parts. Agility Robotics is also preparing for its IPO via SPAC, with plans to finalize its merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI by late 2026. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
