South Korea and NVIDIA Collaborate on AI Development at San Francisco Summit

During the AI Summit in San Francisco, South Korean President Jae Myung Lee and leading business figures convened with NVIDIA to discuss the nation's AI advancements. This meeting follows NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang's recent visit to South Korea and aims to bolster the country's AI infrastructure and expertise, positioning it as a global AI innovation hub.

A significant outcome of the summit was the announcement of a joint AI research lab between NVIDIA and the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in Seoul. This lab, the first of its kind between a Korean university and a global tech company, will focus on advancing agentic AI and leverage NVIDIA's full-stack AI capabilities alongside KAIST's scientific talent.

As the summit progresses, further updates are expected, including discussions between Huang and President Lee, as well as interactions with business leaders from Korea and the U.S. Notably, NVIDIA and SK Group have expanded their collaboration to enhance AI infrastructure, which includes plans for physical AI and robotics development in Korea.

Editor's Note

The collaboration between South Korea and NVIDIA highlights a strategic move towards enhancing AI capabilities within the region. This partnership not only strengthens academic research but also aligns with broader trends in technology adoption and investment in AI infrastructure. The establishment of the joint lab at KAIST signifies a commitment to fostering innovation and developing a skilled workforce in AI technologies.
