"Empowering Efficiency and Safety in your Operations"
Roscommon developer of iTarra, a 110 kW diesel-electric autonomous tracked tractor with remote control and an NVIDIA/Google Cloud AI fleet platform.
iTarra (iTARRA Tractor Company) is an Irish developer of driverless tractors based on Athlone Road, Roscommon. It was founded by David Doran, its CEO, who also runs the agricultural machinery business Acres Machinery, which built the early machines. The name comes from tarracoir, the Irish word for tractor. The company positions its autonomy technology as open and affordable so that smaller businesses can compete with large incumbents, and it targets agriculture, construction, industrial and defence uses.
The iTarra tractor is a diesel-electric crawler. A 2019 prototype described by Future Farming used a diesel generator supplying up to 110 kW, two rubber tracks with hydrostatic drive, about 2 square metres of track contact area, a weight of 4.5 tonnes and a towing capacity of 12 tonnes. Navigation used GPS and camera systems developed with Topcon, with claimed accuracy of 20 mm, and the machine could also be remote-controlled. An electromagnetic drawbar quick-coupler replaced a conventional towbar, and feed-mixer maker Keenan adapted an electrically driven mixer for it. A standard robot with front linkage was quoted at about EUR 150,000 at the time. The current website lists Mini, Midi and Maxi models, with the Midi offering autonomous and remote operation and several powertrain options (diesel/HVO-ready and gas-electric, with hydrogen and electric variants), and lists sensors and compute from Olive Robotics (IMUs), Livox (lidar), Luxonis (cameras) and NVIDIA.
The iTarra AI Fleet Platform, built on NVIDIA edge AI and integrated with Google Cloud, provides real-time monitoring, autonomous control and coordinated multi-machine operation, and the Re-Gen power system provides a mobile 400 V electricity source. The tractor has been exhibited at Agritechnica and, in September 2026, at the National Ploughing Championships, where Doran described a retrofit GPS auto-steer kit in development and a semi-autonomous dumper controllable from an excavator cab.
