FANUC America has inaugurated the FANUC Training Academy, the largest corporate robotics and industrial automation training center in the U.S., located in Auburn Hills, Michigan. This facility, covering 132,000 square feet and representing an investment of over $18 million, aims to address the skills gap in the manufacturing sector by providing hands-on training for technicians, engineers, and students.
The establishment of the Training Academy is crucial as North American manufacturers increasingly invest in robotics and AI technologies, yet face challenges in finding skilled workers. FANUC's investment not only enhances training capacity but also complements a previous $90 million expansion in Michigan, reinforcing the company's commitment to workforce development and domestic manufacturing.
Looking ahead, the Training Academy is set to train approximately 17,500 participants annually and expand FANUC's educational outreach through its Certified Education Training program, which supports over 1,700 schools. The facility will also include a customer support call center by 2027, further solidifying its role in advancing manufacturing innovation in the region.
