Bulwark Dynamics Secures $6.8M Seed Funding for Autonomous Landing Craft Development in Japan

Bulwark Dynamics has successfully raised $6.8 million in seed funding to advance the development of its Caravel autonomous landing craft. The company has entered into an agreement with Japan’s Onomichi Dockyard to facilitate the serial production of these vessels, which are designed to autonomously deliver cargo across unimproved shorelines without the need for ports or cranes.

The significance of this funding lies in Bulwark's focus on enhancing logistics capabilities for U.S. and allied forces in the Indo-Pacific region. The Caravel series aims to improve supply chain resilience in contested environments by utilizing unmanned systems, thereby reducing the risk associated with traditional crewed logistics platforms. The prototype has already demonstrated its ability to autonomously transit, beach, unload cargo, and retract without human intervention.

Looking ahead, Bulwark Dynamics plans to develop larger variants of the Caravel, specifically a 35-foot and a 55-foot model, to accommodate greater cargo loads. The company is also expanding its workforce in both the U.S. and Japan to support production and testing efforts. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
