Pioneer is set to release the USB card reader 'CD-SDR001' under its Carrozzeria brand in December 2026, priced around 3,000 yen. This device allows users to insert a microSD card from a dashcam and connect it to USB Type-C compatible smartphones to view recorded footage without needing a dedicated app or initial setup.
This innovation is significant as it enables easy access to dashcam footage for both drivers and third parties, even when the dashcam is powered off. The device is designed to withstand extreme temperatures from -20 to +60 degrees Celsius and features a blue LED indicator for data transfer, enhancing user convenience and functionality.
Looking ahead, the CD-SDR001 will be compatible with iPhone models from the iPhone 15 onwards and Android smartphones with USB Type-C and OTG support. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
