Hong Kong-registered maker of Beni, a 1.75 kg self-balancing 4K camera robot; Kickstarter raised about EUR 1.7M in 2026.
Mondo Robotics is a consumer robotics company that develops Beni, an all-terrain camera robot designed to follow and film people and dogs during outdoor and indoor activities. The company's online store is operated by Mondo HK Limited, a Hong Kong-registered entity with an address in Tai Kok Tsui, Kowloon, while the company states that its team works across Shenzhen and Palo Alto and numbers more than 200 engineers and artists. Its about page says the product began with two founders, who are not named, wanting to build a robot for themselves and their child.
The company's own timeline traces Beni from a rough concept model in April 2025 to a first working prototype in July 2025, a finalized design in October 2025 and first outdoor demonstrations in December 2025. Self-righting capability was declared ready for launch in March 2026 and the first units went to more than 30 beta users in May 2026. Beni was then offered through a Kickstarter campaign that, according to the Dutch outlet Bright, raised nearly 1.7 million euros by July 2026. The official store lists shipping from early November 2026.
Beni is a two-wheeled, self-balancing robot weighing 1.75 kg (3.86 lb) and measuring 21.5 x 18 x 18 cm. It records 4K video at 30 fps, 3K at 60 fps or 1080p at 100 fps through a 155-degree field-of-view lens with an f/2.8 aperture and ISO 100 to 12800, storing footage on 32 GB of internal memory plus a microSD slot. Stabilization combines a mechanical gimbal with electronic stabilization under the name HybridFlow 3.0. The robot reaches a top speed of 28.8 km/h (17.9 mph), jumps up to 25.4 cm to climb curbs and steps, avoids obstacles autonomously and rights itself after a fall. Each swappable battery gives about 1.5 hours, or more than 4.5 hours with two swaps. Operating temperature is 0 to 40 degrees C, and the robot is not rated for submersion or heavy rain.
Subject tracking and filming run on the device without an internet connection; the company says AI editing of highlights goes online only with user permission. Tracking modes cover tail, side, front and circling angles, and a Pilot Mode allows first-person driving. Press coverage describes dual obstacle-avoidance cameras, a wrist-worn joystick controller with a companion smartphone app, and animated, color-changing eyes with a built-in voice. Planned additions mentioned in coverage include SIM-based remote connectivity, gamepad control and FPV goggle support. Accessories include optional off-road wheels and interchangeable cosmetic parts.
The store prices Beni at USD 749 for the Standard Combo and USD 899 for the Explore Combo, with a 12-month limited warranty. RobotToday's weekly briefing cited Mondo Robotics as one of the companies introducing personal robots alongside Hugging Face's Microduck.
