New Insights on China's WZ-X Stealth Drone's Unique Wing Design Revealed

Recent imagery from China has provided a clearer view of the WZ-X, a large, low-observable flying-wing drone. Initially identified in satellite images from May 2025 at the People’s Liberation Army Air Force’s test facility in Xinjiang, the new photographs reveal the aircraft's unusual wing configuration, characterized by a broader-chord inner section that transitions into a narrower outer section.
This unique wing design, which features two outer wing sections and a diamond-like central fuselage, sets the WZ-X apart from other stealth drones like the B-2. The aircraft's structure may enhance its high-altitude performance and endurance, although it raises questions about its radar signature due to the complex geometry.
As analysts continue to study the WZ-X, its potential as a twin-engine design similar to the U.S. RQ-180 is being considered. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
