Boyagongdao Unveils BG-5 Biomimetic Robotic Fish for Shallow Water Inspections

Boyagongdao showcased its BG-5 Golden Dragon Fish biomimetic autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) at the China International Fair for Trade in Services (CIFTIS). This innovative robotic fish weighs approximately 3 kg and measures 640 mm in length, designed specifically for shallow inspections.

The BG-5 features a soft multi-joint tail, enabling it to achieve a top speed of 0.6 m/s and a depth rating of 5 meters. This propeller-free design is particularly suited for delicate underwater environments, making it a significant advancement in underwater inspection technology.

As the demand for efficient and non-intrusive inspection methods grows, the BG-5's capabilities position it as a valuable tool in various applications. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.

Editor's Note

The introduction of biomimetic technologies like the BG-5 reflects a growing trend in the robotics sector towards more adaptable and environmentally friendly solutions. As industries increasingly seek efficient inspection methods, innovations such as this AUV could reshape operational protocols in marine environments.
