Forssea Robotics is a Sete-based maker of compact smart ROVs and V-LOC/V-NAV visual positioning cameras for offshore and coastal subsea work.
Forssea Robotics is a French company that designs and manufactures subsea robotics and visual positioning technologies. It describes itself as an integrated ROV company building observation-class vehicles for coastal environments, intended to be operated from small, low-emission vessels rather than large offshore support ships. Headquarters are at 472 rue du phare de Roquerols in Sete, where the company moved into dedicated premises near the port in 2022, with a second office in Versailles. Facilities include a test tank, electronics and mechanical workshops, two remote control rooms and a 400 m2 warehouse.
Its product range comprises Smart ROVs, including the ARGOS vehicle with ready-to-dive payload options, and Smart Cameras for underwater imaging, visual localisation (V-LOC) and visual navigation (V-NAV). Forssea also provides ROV services for offshore operators, support vessels, rental and engineering, and promotes a robotics-as-a-service model built on remote supervision and live video streaming. The company states that its services follow IMO and IMCA industry standards and displays ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certification.
The team counts about 20 engineers and technicians with backgrounds in offshore and subsea operations, systems and IT engineering, robotics and computer vision. IFREMER, the French national ocean research institute, became a shareholder in 2020.
