Indian startup Sarla Aviation is leveraging the Siemens Xcelerator portfolio to expedite the development of its next-generation electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) aircraft aimed at urban air mobility. Based in Bengaluru, the company plans to revolutionize urban transportation by making electric air taxis safe, sustainable, and accessible, with operations expected to launch by 2028.
The adoption of Siemens’ integrated digital thread allows Sarla Aviation to connect product design, simulation, and lifecycle management in a unified environment. This approach enhances data flow across development disciplines, reduces design iterations through early-stage simulation, and improves collaboration among engineering teams, which is essential for meeting certification requirements.
Sarla Aviation will showcase its advancements in electric air mobility at Realize LIVE India, where co-founder and CTO Rakesh Gaonkar will discuss how the digital thread strategy is facilitating faster innovation in advanced air mobility. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
