In July 2026, Siemens Healthineers announced a collaboration with AiM Medical Robotics, a medical robotics startup developing a portable, MRI-compatible surgical robot designed for use inside the MRI suite and operating room, to integrate AiM's robotic surgery system with Siemens Healthineers' MRI scanners. The partnership is aimed at enabling MRI-guided robotic surgical procedures, allowing surgeons to combine real-time magnetic resonance imaging with robotic instrument positioning during operations such as neurosurgical and other image-guided interventions — extending Siemens Healthineers' imaging platform business into the robotic-assisted surgery segment through a technology-integration partnership rather than in-house robot manufacturing. This positions Siemens Healthineers as a large-scale imaging equipment manufacturer whose MRI hardware and software increasingly serve as the sensing and guidance backbone for third-party surgical robotics systems, complementing its existing diagnostic imaging, laboratory automation, and healthcare IT product lines sold to hospitals and research institutions worldwide.
