VLM Robotics
VLM Robotics, near Bordeaux, builds CNC-controlled robotic cells (GEMINI, SOLO, COMPAQT, CALYPSO) for WAAM, cold spray, milling and NDT of large parts.
VLM Robotics is a French manufacturer of robotic manufacturing machines located in the Parc Mios Entreprises at Lacanau de Mios, Gironde. It builds robot-based, CNC-controlled production cells for unique parts and small custom series of large components, produces parts on demand for demonstrations and first industrial series, and runs collaborative R&D with large industrial partners. Its cells typically combine several processes and sometimes several robots under multi-channel direct numerical control with real-time closed-loop process control.
The machine range has four models. GEMINI is an XXL cell with two robots, a turntable rated 2 to 20 t, up to 14 axes (19 with a linear axis) and a working volume under 10 m3 for parts under 3 m in diameter; it supports laser metal deposition, WAAM or cold spray with in-process control, plus milling. SOLO is a single-robot XXL cell with 9 axes and the same 2 to 20 t turntable, for WAAM, cold spray, metrology and milling within under 5 m3. COMPAQT is an XL single-robot cell with 9 axes and a turntable up to 500 kg for WAAM, scanning and milling of parts under 1.5 m high. CALYPSO is a mobile platform built on an omnidirectional AMR carrying a robot, offering 8-axis welding or WAAM, FDM printing, scanning or non-destructive testing.
The machines are built with Siemens SINUMERIK controls using Run MyRobot or Direct Control, and VLM Robotics is listed as a Siemens Xcelerator ecosystem partner and Siemens innovation partner for robotics in Industry 4.0. Industries served include aerospace and defense, marine, transportation, energy and oil and gas, power utilities, machine building, harbors, metal forming and additive manufacturing. The company holds a Bpifrance high-growth-potential label and has twice been a France 2030 laureate.
