MSI Computer Japan announced the launch of the PRO MAX EDGE AI+ 11M-008JP, a compact desktop designed for local large language model (LLM) execution. The desktop features a Ryzen AI Max+ 395 processor with 16 cores and 32 threads, and it is equipped with 128GB of LPDDR5X unified memory. Sales are set to begin on November 5, with an expected retail price of approximately 818,000 yen (including tax).
This new desktop is significant as it supports local AI processing, enabling users to run advanced AI applications without relying on cloud services. The compact design, measuring 163mm in width, 356mm in depth, and 275mm in height, makes it suitable for various environments, including offices and creative spaces. The inclusion of high-speed connectivity options such as 2.5GbE wired LAN and Wi-Fi 7 enhances its usability for demanding tasks.
MSI's PRO MAX EDGE AI+ 11M-008JP is poised to impact the market for local AI solutions, particularly as it competes with other offerings like Apple's Mac mini and Mac Studio. The performance of local LLMs in Windows environments will be closely monitored as more products enter this segment, highlighting the growing trend of localized AI processing capabilities.
