Monday.com Survey Reveals AI Adoption Challenges for Employee Evaluation by Managers

A recent survey by Monday.com indicates that over half of senior leaders find AI complicates employee evaluation. Conducted by Nielsen among 1,700 directors and senior managers across seven countries, the survey highlights that polished outputs from AI make it difficult for managers to discern individual contributions. As a result, nearly half of the respondents report spending more time guiding their teams.
The findings underscore a significant shift in evaluation criteria, with 78% of managers placing greater emphasis on skills related to AI delegation and experimentation. Despite the challenges, enthusiasm for AI remains high, with 94% of managers eager to leverage AI for improved work processes. However, concerns about bias in AI-generated assessments persist, as managers increasingly rely on AI for decision-making and performance reviews.
Looking ahead, 58% of managers anticipate overseeing more AI agents than human employees within a year. This shift raises concerns about control and accountability, with 46% of managers worried about losing oversight of AI agents. The report suggests that while AI is expected to streamline operations, it may instead lead to increased tool complexity and a new layer of management challenges.
