Mobileye's Amnon Shashua to Depart as CEO Amid Robotaxi and Robotics Expansion

Amnon Shashua, founder and CEO of Mobileye, is set to step down after nearly 30 years, coinciding with the company's expansion into robotaxis and humanoid robots. He will remain in his role until a successor is appointed, as stated in a regulatory filing.

This leadership transition is significant as Mobileye, known for its computer vision chips, is evolving its business model. The company, which had the largest IPO in Israel's history and was acquired by Intel for $15.3 billion, is now focusing on robotics and automotive AI, particularly after acquiring Mentee Robotics for $900 million.

Looking ahead, Mobileye plans to launch its own robotaxi service in a U.S. city by 2027, marking a pivotal shift from being a chip supplier to a provider of autonomous driving systems. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.

Editor's Note

The departure of Amnon Shashua as CEO of Mobileye signals a critical juncture for the company as it transitions into the robotaxi and robotics sectors. This shift reflects broader trends in the automotive industry, where companies are increasingly integrating AI and robotics into their offerings. Stakeholders should monitor how this leadership change impacts Mobileye's strategic direction and partnerships.
