Fourier Unveils GRW: Its First Wheeled Dual-Arm Robot for Factory Automation

On July 17, 2026, Fourier introduced the GRW, its first wheeled dual-arm robot, at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference in Shanghai. This innovative robot is designed for flexible industrial operations, focusing on stability, efficiency, and continuous assistance in factory settings.

The GRW features a narrow 585mm body, a dual-arm span of 1970mm, and a repeat positioning accuracy of ±0.1mm, with a dual-arm load capacity of 16kg. Its hardware supports hot-swappable power, enabling 24/7 continuous operation. This robot addresses the automation gap in auxiliary tasks across various industries, including automotive manufacturing and logistics.

As factories face challenges in automating auxiliary roles, the GRW targets six key operational areas: line-side delivery, box handling, machine loading/unloading, material sorting, assembly, and palletizing. With 29 degrees of freedom and a peak torque of 500 N·m, the GRW is poised to meet approximately 80% of manual material handling needs in sectors like automotive and warehousing.

Editor's Note

The introduction of the GRW by Fourier highlights a significant shift in factory automation, focusing on addressing the unmet needs of auxiliary tasks. As industries increasingly seek efficient solutions, the GRW's design reflects a pragmatic approach to automation, prioritizing operational efficiency over complex humanoid designs. This could reshape the competitive landscape for industrial robots.
