SkyDrive and Verty Collaborate for eVTOL Commercial Operations in South Korea by 2028

Japanese eVTOL developer SkyDrive has entered into a partnership with South Korea’s Verty to facilitate commercial Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) operations in South Korea. The collaboration includes a memorandum of understanding focused on the introduction of SkyDrive’s three-seat SD-05 aircraft, with a target for commercial deployment by 2028.

This partnership is significant as it marks SkyDrive's expansion into international markets, particularly in South Korea, where Verty aims to become the first operator to secure an Air Operator Certificate for eVTOL operations. The companies will explore flight safety, infrastructure requirements, and potential routes, with initial concepts including tourism and regional transportation.

Looking ahead, the feasibility study will assess how the SD-05 can enhance tourism and regional transport in South Korea’s evolving AAM market. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.

Editor's Note

The collaboration between SkyDrive and Verty highlights the growing interest in eVTOL technologies within the South Korean market. As both companies work towards commercial deployment, their focus on tourism and regional transport could significantly impact the future of air mobility in the region. Stakeholders should monitor regulatory developments and technological advancements that may influence the success of these initiatives.
