It is jointly owned by Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo, and is headquartered in Le Plessis-Robinson near Paris, France, with major national divisions in France, the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Spain, and a U.S. presence in Arlington, Virginia. MBDA employs around 12,000 to 13,000 people internationally.
Its portfolio spans battlefield engagement, air defense, deep precision strike, and maritime superiority, including widely fielded systems such as the Meteor beyond-visual-range air-to-air missile, the Aster surface-to-air missile family, the Mistral very-short-range air defense system, the Brimstone and SPEAR precision strike weapons, the Marte ER anti-ship missile, the Naval Cruise Missile (MdCN), and a Land Cruise Missile for ground-launched deep strike. The company is advancing artificial intelligence for collaborative weapons through its Orchestrike program, with the SPEAR family set to be the first cruise missiles featuring AI-enhanced collaboration while keeping a human operator in the loop, and is developing the Sky Warden modular counter-UAS solution. MBDA supplies its products to European nations and allied export customers and partners closely with national ministries of defense, such as its long-running complex weapons partnership with the UK Ministry of Defence.
