Inovia Capital Achieves $200 Million First Close for AI-Focused Fund VI

Inovia Capital, based in Montreal, has successfully secured $200 million in the first close of its sixth venture capital fund, Inovia Capital Fund VI. The firm intends to allocate this capital over the next three years to support 25 to 30 startups across North America and Europe, particularly in sectors where AI adoption is still emerging but capable of generating economic benefits, such as cybersecurity, health technology, and computing infrastructure.
This funding round underscores a significant shift in investor focus towards AI, with Inovia's State of Software report indicating that AI-native startups represented 40% of software deal value in Canada in 2025. The fund is structured in U.S. dollars to attract global teams and will provide investments ranging from $1 million to $10 million, including for pre-revenue companies. Notably, Fund VI is smaller than Inovia's previous fund, which closed at $325 million in 2022.
As Canadian investment increasingly flows into AI, with notable firms like Radical Ventures raising over $1 billion for later-stage AI companies, Inovia's strategy remains distinct by concentrating on younger companies rather than growth-stage capital. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
