He Xiaopeng Discusses the Embodied Intelligence Bubble and Genuine Innovation

At a Tsinghua University presentation on September 16, He Xiaopeng addressed concerns regarding the pace of embodied intelligence commercialization, acknowledging an overzealous investment climate. He emphasized that while bubbles exist in every industry, the true innovation lies beneath the surface. He highlighted the potential for rapid advancements in physical AI, suggesting that its impact on daily life may exceed expectations.

He Xiaopeng revealed that 98% of the Xiaopeng Robotics team holds advanced degrees, with 18% being PhD students. The company plans to hire over 8,000 employees annually from 2025 to 2027, with more than half of these positions focused on campus recruitment. Approximately 40% of this year's job openings are related to physical AI, alongside roles in modeling, robotics, autonomous driving, and manufacturing.

Looking ahead, He Xiaopeng advised companies to focus on core competencies and collaboration rather than spreading resources too thin. He noted that larger companies should embrace uncertainty and invest in cutting-edge projects while maintaining a keen awareness of market trends. He underscored the importance of identifying long-term goals and aligning with the right teams in a rapidly evolving landscape.

Editor's Note

He Xiaopeng's insights reflect a critical perspective on the current state of the embodied intelligence sector, emphasizing the need for strategic investment and collaboration. As companies navigate the complexities of innovation, understanding market dynamics and maintaining a focus on core competencies will be essential for success in this rapidly evolving field.
