Insight Intelligence, registered in English as Shanghai Jushi Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. and known in the market by its product name insightOS, is a Shanghai company building an operating system for embodied-AI robots. It was founded in October 2024 on research from Harbin Institute of Technology and is chaired by Li Zhijun, a professor in HIT's Faculty of Computing whose work covers operating systems and the Internet of Things. Headquarters are in Zhangjiang Robot Valley in Pudong, with R&D bases in Harbin and Suzhou.
insightOS sits between robot hardware and the tasks a user wants done. Insight Kernel abstracts perception, navigation, control and existing ROS or ROS 2 nodes into schedulable resources, runs each task in an isolated container and traces it end to end. Insight Framework adds a semantic layer: a plain-language instruction such as moving a box to a named workstation is broken into pick, plan, navigate and place steps, checked for intent, collision and force feedback before execution, and coordinated across planning, execution and monitoring agents using a semantic map of the site. insight Studio is the development environment, with drag-and-drop task orchestration, Isaac Sim and MuJoCo simulation, a reusable skill library and one-click deployment to the physical robot. Insight Ops covers monitoring, alarms, logs and self-healing for mixed fleets of humanoids, quadrupeds and arms. The system was first shown at WAIC in July 2025; a semantic-agent release, insightOS Semantic, followed at WAIC 2026.
The company reports more than 36 industrial deployments (12 humanoid, 8 quadruped, 16 manipulator) and names BYD (humanoid depalletising of mixed loads), Shanghai Electric and Henan Investment Group (an unmanned robot vending kiosk) as users; another case pairs a robot dog with a drone for substation inspection. A separate education line packages the OS with teaching robots and a 228-hour, six-course curriculum for universities and vocational colleges.
Funding to date is an angel round of tens of millions of yuan, with HIT and Leju Robotics among early backers, followed by an undisclosed Pre-A in November 2025 whose investors include the Yangtze River Delta National Technology Innovation Center, Zhangjiang Group and Daohe.
