DJI has introduced the Matrice 5T, a compact enterprise drone tailored for public safety, infrastructure inspection, and surveying. Launched on November 5, 2026, this drone boasts high-resolution thermal imaging, advanced obstacle detection, and an impressive flight time of up to 59 minutes, alongside an IP55 rating for dust and water resistance.
The significance of the Matrice 5T lies in its ability to operate in extreme temperatures ranging from -20°C to 50°C, making it suitable for challenging environments. Its thermal camera features a native resolution of 1280 × 1024, which is four times greater than standard sensors, and an ultra-high-resolution mode that enhances thermal imaging to 2560 × 2048. This drone is equipped with various cameras for low-light operations, enhancing its utility in search and rescue, firefighting, and utility inspections.
DJI plans to host a webinar to showcase the Matrice 5T's capabilities. The drone's advanced obstacle detection system, which includes LiDAR and millimeter-wave radar, can identify thin obstacles like power lines at night, supporting safe operations in complex environments. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
