ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) captured a 10% share of the global DRAM market by revenue in the second quarter of 2023, according to Counterpoint Research. This marks a significant increase from 4% a year prior and 8% in the previous quarter, positioning CXMT as the fastest-growing supplier in the sector.
The rise of CXMT is noteworthy as it comes amid a decline in the combined market share of the top three suppliers: Samsung Electronics, SK hynix, and Micron. Samsung remains the leading DRAM supplier with a 39% share, followed by SK hynix at 26% and Micron at 25%. Their collective share decreased from 94% to 87% over the same timeframe, indicating a shift in market dynamics.
Looking ahead, CXMT's growth trajectory suggests it may continue to challenge established players in the DRAM market. No further timeline was disclosed at the time of publication.
