Hefei DRAM chipmaker founded 2016, listed on Shanghai's STAR Market (688825); the largest integrated DRAM manufacturer in mainland China.
ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) is a Chinese integrated semiconductor manufacturer headquartered in Hefei, Anhui Province. Founded in 2016, the company designs, develops, produces and sells dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) chips in-house, making it an integrated device manufacturer rather than a fabless designer, and it is the largest DRAM IDM in mainland China. CXMT is listed on Shanghai's STAR Market under stock code 688825.
CXMT built its first wafer fab, Fab A, in Hefei starting in 2017, taped out an 8Gb DDR4 chip in 2018, and announced DDR4 mass production at the 2019 World Manufacturing Convention before beginning commercial sales that year. It has since added a Fab A2 site in Hefei and a Fab C site in Beijing that entered trial production in 2022. Its commercial product lines include DDR4 and DDR4 modules, DDR5 and DDR5 modules, LPDDR4X, and LPDDR5/5X mobile memory, supplying DRAM for mobile devices, PCs, tablets, servers, virtual-reality equipment and Internet of Things products; as a memory component supplier, its chips also serve as underlying hardware for computing systems, including AI and robotics platforms that depend on high-bandwidth, energy-efficient DRAM.
The company is led by president Cao Kanyu, who directed its DRAM research and development from 2017, and it maintains research centers and branch offices in China and abroad.

ByRSF Research Jul 30, 2026China's technology sector is increasingly shaped by state-backed investments, which are altering the funding landscape and igniting discussions on risk versus innovation. Major players like DeepSeek, Zhipu AI, Unitree Robotics, and ChangXin Memory Technologies (CXMT) reflect a shift towards government involvement as Western venture capital recedes. The Chinese government's growing role in funding is evident, with state-affiliated investors providing over 90% of the committed capital in the private-equity market last year, up from 79% in 2021. This trend indicates a structural change in how frontier technologies are financed, as Beijing emphasizes long-term investments in hard technology. Looking ahead, the deployment of this capital will be crucial in determining China's success in becoming a self-reliant tech superpower. The balance between fostering innovation and managing potential overcapacity will be a key area to monitor as the state continues to influence the tech sector's trajectory.
