Company Overview

Tokuiten Inc. is a Japanese agritech company founded on 6 August 2021 and headquartered at Nagono Campus in Nishi-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture. Its CEO is Ryuichiro Toyoshi. The company combines organic vegetable production and sales with the development of agricultural automation technology, and also supports companies entering farming. It is working to automate the full cultivation cycle of organic farming with AI and robotics.

Tokuiten operates its own farm in Chita City, Aichi, growing organic mini tomatoes on fields certified under Japan's organic JAS standard (certification obtained in April 2023). It has built prototype robots for harvesting, liquid spraying and pest control. Development of its main machine, a suction-type mini tomato harvesting robot, started in 2023. The robot uses a camera and AI to judge ripeness and select fruit, then separates each tomato from its stem with a weak, patented suction mechanism designed to avoid damaging the fruit. It runs on rails laid between crop rows and uses omnidirectional wheels to move between rails. In April 2026 one robot harvested 31 kg of mini tomatoes in a day; after trials ended on 25 May 2026, farm staff began routine operation, with runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings of about five hours each, each run harvesting roughly half of what one human picker collects in a day.

In October 2023 Tokuiten announced fundraising of about JPY 370 million to hire robot engineers, sales and back-office staff and to develop agricultural robots. In October 2024 it was selected for the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries' SBIR Phase 3 programme, which supports a new farm of about 1 hectare in Chita City scheduled for completion in March 2027 and planned to house six harvesting robots.
