Tibot Technologies is a Brittany-based maker of autonomous poultry-house robots, Spoutnic and T-Moov, that move flocks and cut floor-laid eggs.
Tibot Technologies is a French agritech company that designs autonomous robots for poultry houses. The project originated in 2015, when Laetitia and Benoit Savary, poultry farmers in Mayenne, asked Cimtech, a mechatronics engineering office near Rennes, to study a robot to help manage their hens; the company was then set up under the direction of co-founder and president Yanne Courcoux. Tibot is based in the Rennes area of Brittany. Its robots were developed and refined through trials on partner farms over several years, and an early prototype won a three-star Innov'Space award at the SPACE livestock fair in 2016.
The first commercial robot, Spoutnic, circulates autonomously through the poultry house to encourage birds to lay in nests rather than on the floor and to stimulate activity; it is plug-and-play, started with three buttons, and a customisation box adapts it to turkeys, breeders or layers. The company reports that on one trial farm floor-laid eggs fell from 34% to 11% within two weeks. A navigation version, Spoutnic NAV, uses indoor navigation to herd the flock and aerate bedding. T-Moov, launched in December 2021 as an evolution of Spoutnic, is designed for harder conditions such as degraded litter or flat-deck systems; according to the launch announcement it offers six adjustable speeds, ten sounds, seven light colours and laser points projected on the ground, 360-degree contact detection, up to ten hours of autonomy, automatic cut-off in darkness, and resistance to dust, water, ammonia and disinfectants, with control from a mobile app or on the robot. Target flocks include broilers, meat turkeys, breeding hens, breeding turkeys and laying hens; the company cites a payback period of 6 to 18 months.
In October 2019 Tibot raised EUR 3 million in its second funding round from Demeter's Agrinnovation Fund, Seventure Partners, Breizh Up and Credit Agricole Ille-et-Vilaine Expansion, with bank support from Credit Agricole, BNP Paribas and Credit Mutuel de Bretagne. By the T-Moov launch it reported more than 200 customers in over 25 countries served through 15 distributors, and the opening of a first sales office in the United States.
Primary type & automation activities this supplier delivers:
Autonomous poultry-house robot that moves birds toward nests to reduce floor laying and stimulate activity.
Evolution of Spoutnic for degraded litter and flat-deck houses, using sound, light and laser stimuli to move flocks.
Navigation-enabled poultry robot that herds the flock and aerates the bedding.
