Suitable Technologies Inc. was a telepresence robotics company headquartered in Palo Alto, California, founded in 2012 as a spin-out focused on remote presence technology. The company developed and manufactured the Beam series of telepresence robots, including the BeamPro and Beam+, designed to allow remote workers, executives, and individuals with mobility limitations to navigate offices, factories, and educational environments through a mobile robotic platform with integrated video conferencing. The Beam system used encrypted communications including TLS/SSL and AES-256.
Notably, a Beam robot was the first telepresence robot to visit the White House during the 25th anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act. In October 2020, Blue Ocean Robotics of Denmark acquired the Beam telepresence robot assets and rights from Suitable Technologies.
