Pace Robotics is an Indian construction robotics company based in Bengaluru that builds robots for interior building finishes, starting with putty, sanding, priming and painting of walls and ceilings. It was co-founded by Srinivas K. Pai, the CEO, who spent about 13 years in construction project management, and Ayushmoy Roy, who leads product and technology and previously built robots for agriculture. The company was incorporated in early 2021 and describes its team as engineers from construction, mechanical, robotics and AI backgrounds who take products from first prototype to real-world deployment. Its stated goal is to make robots ubiquitous on construction projects, beginning with building finishes in high-rise residential towers and later commercial buildings.
The flagship product is the Centa Painter, a modular, multi-tasking robot for interior wall and ceiling finishing. It carries interchangeable modules: a sanding module with vacuum dust extraction, and a module that sprays putty and paint. In a founder interview the company explained that the robot uses more than twenty sensors, including LiDAR and cameras, with an NVIDIA processor to build a local map and localise itself; it is positioned about a metre from a wall by joystick, while ceiling work runs fully autonomously with the arm pointing upward. It applies roughly 1.5-2 mm of putty, about half of which is sanded away, and copes with walls that deviate by 13-14 mm along their length. The robot is operated and supervised by existing painters rather than specialised robotics engineers.
The robot's perception and planning stack is branded NetriX, which the company describes as the proprietary intelligence that lets Centa Painter map and perceive its surroundings, plan its work and adapt in real time. Pace Robotics calls the platform proprietary and patented.
Before launch the company spent more than four years on R&D, site trials and pilots. Early pilots covered block work with cement plaster, gypsum plaster on concrete and unplastered concrete; in one putty pilot of about 7,000 sq ft of walls and ceilings the company reported about four times manual productivity, and pilot throughput of about 800 sq ft per day. The company claims up to 10x the speed of manual methods, up to 80% less manpower and up to 3x cost savings.
Commercial deployment began in December 2025. In September 2026 the company said more than 20 developers and contractors had evaluated the robot, several had placed orders including repeat purchases from developers, contractors and paint brands, and it had built an order book of about INR 5 crore within six months of commercialisation. Pace Robotics raised a seed round led by adhesives and construction-chemicals maker Pidilite Industries, which took a 19.5% stake, with MARL 5G Accelerator and Kochi Holdings also listed as investors. Next steps named by the company are wider deployment, scaled manufacturing and international markets.
